The Garden State Watercolor Society was founded in 1970 by Dagmar Tribble, an esteemed member of the American Watercolor Society. It began with an Open Annual Juried Show. The jurors were nationally known artists. This exhibit continues to this day.  Watercolor was once a fragile medium, but acid free papers, and light-fast pigments have made it a durable medium -  as long lasting as oil. Because of its spontaneity and pliability, it is now used very creatively by many artist of note.
